Diarflex® stool management systems
Hygienic discharging and collection of liquid, semi-liquid and infectious stool for bedridden, immobilised or incontinent patients. Two system types: rectal catheter systems for use of up to 30 days*, and an external faecal collector for short-term use of up to 3 days*.
Diarflex® & Diarflex® Advanced
Rectal catheter systems with a soft silicone catheter, low-pressure balloon and closed collection bag.
Diarflex® Faecal Collector
External collection pouch with a skin-friendly hydrocolloid adhesive. No catheter is inserted.
Diarflex® or Diarflex® Advanced
Both systems share the same soft silicone catheter, low-pressure balloon and flushing function. Diarflex Advanced adds a sampling port, a catheter clamp for rectal medication, stronger odour control and a closed system during bag changes.
Diarflex®
Hygienic drainage of liquid, semi-liquid and infectious stool with a soft silicone catheter. The system can be flushed via the rinse lumen. Rectal medication can be given via the irrigation connector; without a catheter clamp, some medication may drain out.

Incontinence-associated dermatitis
Stool is channelled from the rectum directly into a closed bag, so it no longer comes into contact with the skin.
The skin stays free of stool and can heal
For patients with incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD), Diarflex and Diarflex Advanced are a suitable option. Because the catheter drains stool internally, there is no irritation of the buttocks, and the perianal area can heal during the treatment period.
Catheter system components
Soft silicone catheter hose
Made of soft, biocompatible silicone. On Diarflex Advanced the hose has an additional odour-proof coating.
Low-pressure balloon
Holds the catheter securely in place. The soft material prevents irritation of the sphincter muscle and permits easy insertion in the unblocked state.
Black insertion marker
Provides better control of the catheter position.
Fill and rinse lumen
Blue connector for filling/emptying the balloon; white irrigation connector for flushing the system.
Collection bag
Rotary closure for secure attachment, superabsorbent polymer for liquids, firmly attached closure cap, capacity up to 1,500 ml.
Hose plug
Temporarily seals the catheter hose while the collection bag is replaced, keeping the system closed.
Diarflex® and Diarflex® Advanced
Diarflex® Faecal Collector — simple external drainage
An external collection pouch for hygienic channelling of liquid and semi-liquid stool. No catheter is inserted. It is applied quickly at the bedside.
Adheres securely. Removed without pain.
The hydrocolloid plaster is designed to stick well to the skin and to be removed without pain for the patient. It is gentle to the skin and absorbs moisture; its especially thin form gives high flexibility and adhesive quality.
Product selection by treatment period
The Faecal Collector is designed for short-term use with easy application. Diarflex and Diarflex Advanced are designed for use of up to 30 days.
