Developed for premature babies
PRIREKTOSILK® is intended for performance of a volume-controlled rectal washout to treat enteral motility disorder in premature babies, neonates and infants. The catheter is kept intentionally short, so the colon is filled from the rectum without deep insertion.
Short, soft and tightly sealing
PRIREKTOSILK® comprises a 3.5 cm-long catheter, a cone-shaped rectal enema tip and a 30 cm-long delivery tube with a female Luer lock connector.
Short catheter
The 3.5 cm section up to the enema tip is kept short and can be shortened further on the doctor's order, avoiding deep insertion.
Olive-shaped enema tip
The olive shape ensures a tight seal irrespective of the size of the anal ring, preventing uncontrolled backflow of washout liquid.
Controlled pressure
The force with which the tip is pressed against the anal ring sets the intrarectal pressure at which backflow is possible, together with the height of the liquid column.
Volume-controlled rectal washout
Prepare
Preheat the washout liquid to body temperature. Connect the syringe or bag to the delivery tube and fill the system.
Insert
Moisten or lubricate the enema tip. Insert the catheter and press the enema tip gently against the anal ring.
Instil slowly
Instil slowly, increasing the counterpressure if liquid flows back. Intermittent instillation and backflow increase efficiency.
Remove
Remove the catheter once the intended quantity has been instilled. PRIREKTOSILK® must not be reused.
Recommended washout volume
Per kilogram of body weight, as recommended in the instructions for use.
Occasionally, the child's reflex to push back is so pronounced that partial backflow of the washout liquid is unavoidable.

Treatment of enteral motility disorder in premature babies, neonates and infants.
No complications or negative side effects are currently known.
